Ratu Sukuna Tales Inspire Students

For 132 students of Naseakula District School in Labasa it was the first time to celebrate Ratu Sukuna Day last Friday.
To help Year 1 to Year 8 students understand why a public holiday was set aside to remember the late Ratu Sir Josefa Lalabalavu Vanayaliyali Sukuna, teachers organised activities including video presentations.
School manager Naibuka Sovosi said this was the only iTaukei-based school in Labasa built in 1940.
“All students were surprised to know that such a great statesman and paramount chief existed,” Mr Sovosi said.
