Takayawa Veretaki Continues The Family Legacy

Takayawa Veretaki is forever grateful to her maternal uncle, who played a pivotal role in raising her after the untimely passing of her mother when she was seven months old.
Reflecting on her journey, she firmly believes that the challenges she faced along the way contributed to shaping her into the person she is today.
As one of the 233 intern nurses inducted in Suva yesterday, she finds great fulfilment in her passion for helping others, which ultimately led her to pursue a career in nursing.
“My uncle, a surgeon, and my aunt, a dietician, were influential figures in guiding me towards the medical field,” Ms Veretaki said.
“One driving force that encouraged me to be where I am today is my desire for independence. I have always strived to stand on my own two feet.
“One invaluable lesson I learnt is there are individuals out there who genuinely believe in you. I express my deepest gratitude to my uncle and aunt for their unwavering support since day one.”
Ms Veretaki plans to continue her educational journey in the near future as she remains dedicated to expanding her knowledge and skills.
“To be selected as one of the 233 intern nurses by the Ministry of Health and Medical Services is a true blessing, marking the first step towards many future accomplishments,” she said.
“I am fully committed to giving my best and ensuring that the ministry will never regret granting me this opportunity.”
The 26-year-old is from Naceva Village in Cicia, Lau.
