The full list is in today’s Fiji SUN newspaper.

A contingent of 490 athletes and officials taking part in 25 sports which includes two para sports are representing Fiji to the Pacific Games from November 19 to December 2 in the Solomon Islands.

Also included in the list are 102 non-travelling reserves.

“Today is a very important day for Team Fiji because this is a culmination of all the hard work that took place behind the scene from well over 18 months ago,” Ballu said.

“It started with an interest from the National Federations to participate in the Games and under strict timelines, final team names were submitted and underwent a Selection Justification process before the final names were submitted to the executive board and the board of management for approval and endorsement,” he said.

“In terms of the Games venue; we have been having regular updates with the PG organising committee as well as our Fijian Community based on the Solomon Islands and we are pleased with the venues and looking forward to seeing everyone on November 14.”

Timelines

Team Fiji’s scheduled i-tatau to President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere is on November 8 after which an advance party will depart for the Solomon Islands to ensure logistics and team registrations are in order.

The first half of our delegation departs on November 14 and returns November 25 while the second half of the delegation departs November 25 and returns December 3 after the closing ceremony.

“There are some sports programmes that covers the whole two weeks which means that some sports will go up on the first flight and come back on the last flight,” he said.
