Let’s Go Local: Levuka A Must for Botea

Meet Kelera Botea.
The 25-years-old from Nailou, Tunuloa, with maternal links to the south of Taveuni, Vuna in Cakudrove is a Tanoa Plaza Hotel service associate.
Born and bred on the Garden Island, she attended Holy Cross Primary and Holy Cross College
She joined Suva’s Tanoa Plaza on September 5 last year after reading up an advertisement for walk in interviews.
“Ever since joining its been an amazing experience learning from the hotel manager and working with a great team.
“I have moved around two departments for exposure and I can see myself growing and learning and I’m thankful for this.”
Ms Botea shared some insights with SunBiz into her best local destinations for food and travel.
How many places have you visited around Fiji?
All around Vanua Levu and some places on Viti Levu.

What is are two local places you would take visitors to, and why?
Levuka because of its background and history.
My home island Taveuni because of its beauty and uniqueness, not forgetting its people, welcoming and kind.

What is your favourite place for to eat?
When away from home, I would eat at the market cafeteria, because it’s not only fresh and tasty but healthy too.
It would remind me of my mother’s cooking and life back at the village.
What is your favourite backyard spot and why?
Beach and waterfalls or the waterslide at Waitavala, it’s very soothing to be surrounded by nature as it gives me peace.

What is one local place that remains on your bucket list?
Yasawa islands because of its white sandy beaches. Namosi Falls because of its natural surroundings and its beauty.
