Written By : RITESH KUMAR . Sakiusa Malai will replace injured Kini Murimurivalu in the Fiji Under 20 side for the Junior Rugby World Championship in Wales next week.
The utility backline player played for Ratu Kadavulevu Secondary School last year in the Under-19 competition.
U20 manager Waisake Tuicakau said Malai will join the team in Wales.
“We will leave Australia tomorrow morning (today) and Malai will join the team on Sunday at our Holiday Inn in Newport.
“He is a good first five eighth and we are happy to include him for the JWC. The U20s defeated North Scolts U20 from Sydney 21-0 in their last build up match which was coach by Flying Fijians technical advisor Greg Mumm.
“We scored three tries a try; one by skipper Jese Cirikisuva and two by Kotobalavu Waqabaca.
“The win has lifted the morale of the players for the JWC.
“We lost to Australia U20 on Sunday and the players lifted their performance.
“The players committed a lot of mistakes in defense and they give away lot of possession when we played against Australia.
“We have learned from that and they played together as a unit.
“The players are now confident to make the country proud in the JWC,” added Tuicakau.
The side will leave Sydney at 8am today on Korean Air.
The team will spent a night in Seoul before they depart for Wales.
They play England on June 6.
