The Japan-based towering lock who has had a good season with his club knows that playing at home will not be an easy one.
“We made a mark last year and the game against South Africa is still clear on everyone’s mind.”
“We will have to progress from there and show that the quarterfinal against South Africa was not by fluke,” Leawere added.
The Serua native believes that if players could go further, then eventually winning the Pacific Nations Cup title would come next.
Leawere, who also captained the Flying Fijians in their match against Australia A last year, knows that the Samoans cannot be taken lightly.
“We can’t dwell on the past, the main thing is to progress from what we achieved last year.”
Meanwhile, he thinks that even with the bulk of the team to represent the country in the IRB PNC were from the RWC team, going a step further would highly depend on the local players.
Leawere has joined the number of forwards who has praised Waratah man, Joe Barakat in trying to help the pack.
“To have someone who has been helping the Waratahs team is good especially when we are well known for our weakness in the forwards.”
“It is really a big thing to have someone of that caliber especially knowing that the team he has been working with has reached the Super 14 final.”
Leawere being the oldest player in the team still has an aim to wear the white jumper again in 2011.
“I will take each year as it comes and keep going until I can’t take it anymore.”
He added that he has been enjoying his time in the field of play with the oval ball and will always be available as long as Fiji needs his service.
