Written By : Ratu Jona Saukuru Nadi . It is disheartening to hear the interim prime minister use the military as a scapegoat for his selfish, abusive contradictory actions in the name of progress.
May I correct him on his comment that “the military has always been part of Fiji’s political leadership”.
The military has always had good leaders and in situations where there are selfish agendas, it has forcefully taken the nation to a standstill with its guns.
This will always be a tale to tell generations to come – the cowardice of Fiji soldiers in staging coups.
Also included will be the tale of bullying tactics the military so likes to display as in the case of Verebasaga, Rabaka, and activitists who spoke for freedom, democracy and a free Fiji.
Not to forget the five CRW soldiers who were killed in the coup of 2000 by the military and the doctor who attended to these soldiers but who eight years later will not speak of the incident.
That is the military we will relate to our future generations.
