Written By : MOIZ MUNIF. Sailesh Sami Bula saved the day for his Lautoka side from a major upset after slotting a goal in injury time to draw level 1-1 against Nadroga yesterday.
Netani Momaivalu combined well with Bula who fired the shoot to keep the chances of making the semifinals alive.
“It is always Bula when you talk about Lautoka. Whenever Lautoka is down and out he rises to the occasion,”coach Dennis Singh said. Nadroga took a first half lead after Sumeet Krishan got a clean pass which he scored easily. Nadroga tamed the Lautoka side for 90 minutes but could not survive a last attack.
The Stallions defended bravely and had more than a dozen chances to increase their lead but failed.
Momaivalu had to bring in from the bench to straighten the attack which was misfiring in the first spell. Singh believes that this result has stunned them.
He also said that a draw was no good to them.
“This match against Nadroga has awaken us.
A win would have brought us closer to the semifinals. We should have beaten Nadroga but as we know that underdogs always create upsets, unfortunately it was Nadroga today. A draw is basically a loss to us but we will focus on the next game and we hope to win,” Singh said.
“After their loss against Rewa in the morning we knew that they would bounce back. Our miss opportunities gave them confidence to strike. They lost in the morning and they had to bounce back. Our misses gave them confidence,” Singh said.
