Written By : SUn Fiji Sportsdesk. By beating Ba, Lautoka has added a lot of flavor and life to the Fiji Bitter FACT. I must congratulate the Lautoka officials and players for the achievement.
I think the result is very good for the game but Ba is a team that can never be written off and they are a team that will do everything to get there in the end.
I have always maintained Lautoka to be the team to watch and with a win over a team like Ba, they know they are up there and they can do it on Sunday. It is always good to play Ba first up and even better to beat them in pool play.
Ba is on the day beatable but not every team can beat Ba. Lautoka, I believe surely can if the two teams met again because of the psychological edge they have now knowing also that Ba is the only team known for adapting to 60 minutes of soccer very quickly.
The fans surely have interesting things to look forward to not only because of the teams and its players but also because of the great coaching minds behind some teams.
I have always had a lot of respect for Anand Sami the wizard and Vimlesh Singh of Ba whom we used to call master. They could read the game very well and I took a lot of cue from how they played.
Labasa is still in and I know by now Anand must be plotting. He is not a player in football since yesterday, the man when he played used to destroy teams and as coach we can all expect things from the Labasa team that has been very constructively.
I have also played with Dennis Singh and against him too. He has been there playing for the national team, Ba, Lautoka and also overseas.
Making an impression also is the Tavua team. I would say Tavua is the Ba colts team because of the way they played today despite losing.
Day Three will be full of excitement and I sense more upsets await the fans but the hope is for less ball watching by the players and probably more team work especially from the strikers of top teams who need to realize it is a team sport and that they also have to fall back in defence.
