Written By : MACIU MALO. Vodafone Labasa was held 0-0 by a determined Southern Forest Navua side yesterday.
Navua which is yet to register a goal against them proved soccer pundits wrong when they held the northerners scoreless in one of the feature match yesterday. Despite being tagged as the underdogs, the southerners were strong in defence and they will be out to stamp their mark against other top teams.
Navua soccer boss Anil Sharma has full of praise of his gallant boys and has promised they would be out to do their best in their remaining two matches today. “We proved the soccer pundits wrong today (yesterday) and I am really proud of the boys.”
“But there is a still a long way to go and as I have stated earlier, we will be out to give our best shot.”
“We still need to improve in some areas and we have equal chance like all other teams as to who will qualify for the semifinal.”
Labasa coach Bal Sanju Reddy was not happy with the performance of his boys as he was expecting a win against Navua.
“We are not actually impressed with the performance of the boys because we wanted to win against Navua but things didn’t turn out our ways. Nevertheless the game Nasinu tomorrow is a must-win game for us and I am hopeful we will come through.”
“Navua played a very defensive game which resulted in the draw. The game didn’t go the way we wanted but anyway we have to go back to the drawing board before the match against Nasinu.”
The Labasa mentor is confident his warriors will return to the North on Sunday with the title.
“We are prepared for anything that comes across and even we have beaten Ba two times even though Ba beat us by 1-0 last time but we can beat them.”
Labasa will meet Nasinu in their last pool match today and a win will cement their position in the semifinal.
