Favorites Ratish Lal and Abdul Kalim who were outright favorites but lost to Kevin Pearson and Wayne Mc lennan 13-14 in a close encounter. Top players out of the running included Babu Khan, Peter Thaggard and Mazid Khan.
Ratish says the weather affected his performance at the greens yesterday.
“In the semifinals it was a battle between Fiji and Australia,”Lal said.
“It was a great struggle and at one stage we were down 9-2 but we fought our way back but were unlucky in the end. The weather affected our performance. Also the game moved from two hours to one and a half did not go down very well for us,” Ratish Lal said.
In the women’s division the team of Marica Reynolds and Sai Walker kept the locals chance intact as they played the team of Sheryl Mar in the pairs final.
“Despite the adverse weather conditions, we are still on schedule. The pairs event has gone well and now we look forward to the fours event which starts tomorrow (today),” Mazid Khan the chairman of the SPBC said.
“The overseas bowlers have been handling the conditions well.”
