Written By : Sun Fiji Sportsdesk. Former national rep Penisoni Waki says the Flying Fijians should rectify their mistakes first when they play against Samoa in the IRB Pacific Nations Cup in Lautoka’s Churchill Park tomorrow.
“Samoa defeated Flying Fijians last year in Apia because they committed mistakes in the forwards.
“Samoa’s strength is in the forwards they have the likes of experienced players Semo Sititi, Filipo Levi and Mahonri Schwalger and they will play a physical game.
“The Flying Fijians forwards committed a lot of mistakes last year in the PNC.
“The forwards didn’t maintain possession from the beginning of the match which led to their downfall in the game.
“Our forwards need to maintain possession during kickoffs to give quality balls to the backline.
“The team will miss the likes of experienced players Akapusi Qera and Sisa Koyamaibole.
“They will be the missing link in the forwards, they played a good game in last years RWC.
“Players like Semisi Naevo, Aca Ratuva, Kele Leawere and Netani Talei will have to play well in the forwards.
“The Flying Fijians should maintain possession from the kickoffs and the forwards need to commit less mistakes to win the game,” added Waki.
