Written By : FijiSun Sports Desk. Vodafone Labasa is conducting its own inquiry into the allegations of match-fixing at the Fiji FACT final won 1-0 by Southern Forest Navua last Sunday.
Association president Abinesh Kumar said, “To get the evidence I have appointed another inquiry team and the findings of which we will forward it to the Fiji FA inquiry team.’’
“I have spoken to Fiji FA president Dr Sahu Khan and shortly Labasa FA will be writing to Fiji FA explaining our side of the story. We have been assured of the independence of the inquiry team and that there will be no interference. We’re pleased about that.’’
“I have appointed a team that will be investigating the allegations for Labasa FA. I must also say that usually in such circumstances there can be no substantial evidence to prove the allegations but there are other ways to prove it,’’ he said.
Kumar defended the allegation he made.
“I just did not say those things because I liked to but because I was called up by someone whom Anil Sharma spoke to while cashing a cheque which he said was for Labasa players and then later saying it was payment for Salesh Kumar.’’
He said in just one year he helped Labasa win the Champion versus Champion and National League titles, something which Navua could never achieve,” Kumar said.
