Written By : VUNIWAQA BOLA . Suva yesterday stamped their mark after dethroning knockout and MH Cup holders Lautoka.
Suva with the services of SNA president Vasiti Vocea, the Capital girls beat Lautoka 27-16.
Suva is now crowned the new MH Tour Knockout champions.
Netball Fiji president, Milika Munivai was happy with the talent showcased in abundance at the Tattersals Leisure Centre yesterday.
“It was really nice to watch the girls.”
“The way they played today (yesterday) clearly showed that the level of netball has really moved up.”
“Most teams that came in today just continued from where they left off last week in the Fiji Games.”
Munivai said Nasinu and Suva used most of their Under 21 players.
“It’s a good sign for Netball Fiji to see that young players are being used in bigger competitions like this.”
She added apart from seeing vast improvements in some teams, Naitasiri was one minor team that stood out in the competition.
The Eroni Matakibau-coached team proved that they would be force to be reckoned with given a little more time.
“They nearly defeated Lautoka and the point difference was just by two goals.”
Naitasiri earlier made the Nadi team recheck their work rate when they led in the first half of their game.
However, due to some netball rules, Naitasiri had to put their Goal Defender on the bench because she was still a registered player of Tailevu.
Nadi eventually won the match 10-8.
