Written By : Lalesh Kundan Ba. Now that the Fiji FACt is over, I would like to put in my two cents worth. Congratulations to Navua. Despite what all is being said, you did win the title.
I commend the coach and president for putting together an effective playing unit; however, the players need to be given more credit, after all, they rose to the occasion. Labasa, it is near impossible to prove player bribery; so it is probably best to bite the bullet and get on with it. Come back stronger in future, win a tournament and then say, ‘see, we told you so.’ Lautoka, after such a promising start, you fell short. Why did you change a winning team? And keep in mind, there is a fine line between confidence and cockiness. Ba, what happened guys? I was working on convincing my wife to accompany me to watch the semis and then the final. Personally I think certain players were rushed into the pressure-cooker environment of the Fact. These players would have been much more effective coming off the bench as impact players. But then again, our coach has delivered numerous titles to us; we’ll keep our faith in him. And like they say, you can’t win them all. One more thing for the officials to keep in mind, the game is played for the fans, so a media ban doesn’t sound right. Let the public know what is going on without giving away secrets. It’ll build on the excitement and support. Nadi, I was quietly confident of a good outing from you. I actually thought it would be a Ba – Nadi final. Anyway, better luck next time. To the other teams, you may be down, but by no means out. Hoping you continue to develop and return better off.
