Written By : Sun Fiji Sportsdesk. Bau native Marica Reynalds was instrumental in leading her team to a 22-15 win over Lavenia Ratumudu in the women’s Fours final at the Vodafone South Pacific Bowling Carnival yesterday.
Reynalds, who now resides in Perth and comes home for the carnival every year, was elated with the win that saw her team cashing in on the $1000 top prize.
Her team included experienced bowlers in former national bowling rep Sai Walker, Helen Elliot and Va Vosalotaki while Lavenia’s team comprised of Sarote Hiagi, Usha Kalim and Meira Buna.
“We’re very happy because we managed to beat a very strong team.’’
“We were really confident because we played very well throughout. I think we just lost one game. As skipper I was confident that the team would win,’’ Reynalds said.
In the semifinals played earlier Ratumudu’s team beat Benau Benion’s team 16-15 while Reynalds’ team won 21-10 over Aggie Stephens’ team.
Singles competition in both women’s and men’s grade starts today at the Suva Bowling Club.
