Written By : VUNIWAQA BOLA. There would be a change in the MH Netball tour this year.
Netball Fiji president, Milika Munivai confirmed on Saturday that there would be no tours this year until they reach the quarterfinal stages.
“Western teams will play in Lautoka and Eastern teams will play in Suva”
Munivai said they would be playing on alternative weeks.
This is a change from last year’s format where every association affiliated to NF was given a chance to host the tour.
Munivai said this would make things easier for the associations.
“All pool games will be played at Lautoka and Suva.”
She added the top two teams from the four pools would then go up to play in the MH Cup quarterfinals whilst the bottom eight teams would fight for the shield.
“The quarterfinals will be in Lautoka before we get the teams for the semifinals.”
Munivai and NF have the Capital city in mind to be where the semifinal and final of the tour be held.
The MH tour started off with the knockout competition on Saturday.
Lautoka, the defending champions of both the Knockout and the MH trophy did not have a good start after the Capital side defeated them.
Both teams fielded in experienced players, but sugar city with the services of former National rep, Aliti Seru could not match the Suva girls.
Suva had the service of their president and former national rep, Vasiti Vocea.
They beat Lautoka 27-16.
