Written By : Vinesh Prasad Ministry of Primary Industries. The Ministry of Primary Industries refutes claims made by the Fiji Sun dated 3rd June, 2008 that a vehicle registered GN677 was used in Nadi during the Fiji FACT Football tournament last weekend.
The article which was featured in the ‘Whispers column’ stated that “a Mr Animal Doctor who despite his workplace rules and regulations took a long weekend trip with his family to watch his favourite team play on the above mentioned vehicle.”
The vehicle with the above registration number does not belong to the Ministry of Primary Industries and is neither used by the officer who is claimed in the column.
The officer had traveled to the West on Wednesday (28th May) for a series of official meetings with various stakeholders of the Ministry and had parked his vehicle at the Handicap Schools secure compound after knocking off work on Thursday at 4:30pm. He returned to Suva on Sunday.
The Ministry would also like to clarify that the officer was not accompanied by his family in the vehicle as he was alone in the West and his family was at their family home in Nausori over the weekend.
Running sheets for the vehicle have been handed to the supervisors upon returning to the office on Monday 2nd, June.
The Ministry hopes that in future facts are cleared first with the responsible Ministry before publishing any information which could cause a lot of unnecessary fuss.
