Written By : Utiko Nabunobuno Lautoka . I refer to Lawrence Narayan’s constant argument that Sabbath keeping is an ancient practice prescribed for Old Testament believers only.
I remind him that the keeping of the Sabbath is not the Law of Moses but God’s commandments.
It wasn’t given only when Moses went up to Mount Sinai.
It was there ever since creation when the Lord created heaven and earth in six days, and rested on the seventh day (Genesis).
In keeping the seventh day holy, we are acknowledging God as the creator of the universe.
‘Heaven and earth shall pass away, but not one dot will pass away from God’s word’ (New Testament).
The change of day of worship is an attempt by the devil (beast – in Revelation) to deceive the church of his supremacy over this world.
It is a desperate attempt at being equal with God.
God has a symbol of supremacy that is His creation.
The devil (Satan) too, likes us to believe that he is supreme by authoring the observance of another day.
Jesus said if we love him we must keep his commandments.
He died for our sins. Sin is our transgression against his commandments.
However, we are not saved by our good works (charity), but by accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, and doing what the Lord wants.
That is, to repent, turn away from ‘sin’, and obey his commandments.
How could we have repented, if we still ignore God’s commands? Just because most Christian denominations observe Sunday worship, doesn’t mean that it is right. Remember, the wider path (where many people head) leads to death.
