Written By : General Editor. It’s not completely clear whether the incidence of rape is increasing or its reporting is increasing. But either way, it’s time to clamp down hard on this disgraceful act of violence against women and, we are even sadder to say, young girls. These are tomorrow’s mothers and today’s sisters They should be treated with care and respect. Statistics tell us that hardly a day goes by without a rape being committed. But what the statistics cannot tell is the human misery that results. Women and girls are emotionally scarred for life while their assailants may get off with a few years behind bars.
In recent time, however, the courts have been prepared to hand out harsher sentences to rapists. This should be encouraged.
