Written By : Ravind C Naidu Labasa. I believe the world leaders are setting a dangerous precedent and promoting a recipe for mass human starvation across the globe by pursuing the concept of producing bio-fuel from agricultural produce. This situation will lead the large scale farmers to supply their produce to the power-generating mills for a higher price, which will result in acute shortage of basic food items in the world market.
Subsequently, the shortage of food supply will push its price to an unprecedented level. This catastrophic ramification is not hard to imagine.
The fact is that if America had not invaded Iraq on the pretext of WMD, the price of fossil fuel wouldn’t have shot sky-high and our global leaders would have more quality time and room to maneuver to tackle the problem of food shortage across the globe.
They should be held accountable and stand trial in the international court of law. One can conclude that America who is the champion of human rights and democracy is directly responsible for the human misery which will further intensify as the concept of bio-fuel eventuates. People have been given poverty on a golden plate.
God have mercy on the less fortunate.
As predicted by some economists years back, we’ll have to brace for some tough times ahead. The scenes would be not be pleasing to the eye.
