Written By : CHRISTOPHER CHAND. The national team management will review injured trio Kameli Ratuvou, Graham Dewes and Vilimoni Delasau in the last training run today.
All three players were sidelined after picking up injuries during training this week.
Loosehead prop Graham Dewes struggled against Samoa after suffering a knee injury and had to be replaced in the second half.
National coach Ilivasi Tabua said he would evaluate all three players today before announcing the side to face the New Zealand Maoris. Tabua said changes would depend on whether the trio would be available for the crunch match.
“We will assess that (three players) in our last run tomorrow (today) and from then we will decide what is the best option available for Saturday,” Tabua said. The former Wallaby has players on standby should the need arise with Vereniki Goneva covering Delasau and Saula Radidi for Ratuvou at inside centre. Prop Viliame Seuseu who went in the second half of the match against the Samoans could replace Dewes if he is ruled out.
Tabua wants to retain the same side that ran rampant over Samoa before conceding three soft tries in the last quarter. He said every match in the competition was vital if the Flying Fijians were to find success in the PNC after finishing fourth in 2006 and 2007.
