Written By : Peter Waqavonovono Suva . With Australia now saying it is not allowing Fiji citizens that legal path to gain seasonal employment in Australia I wonder why people are dismayed and shouting over what should have been expected.
Since December 5 2006, our new unelected leaders have played so much with the law that even Australia is confused as to what is happening in Fiji.
We have an interim government mandated by the President to take Fiji back to economic stability and a stable political foothold. To date the economy is in shambles, unemployment is high, diplomatic relations strained, and our dreams of having an elected government in the near future tested.
As an incentive for the interim government to get real and show results which match their promise, Australia and our Big Brothers in the global village are expected to dish out severe punishments. Let’s all continue to ask our government these serious questions, Where are we going as a nation and do you really care about us?
I for one, don’t support what Australia is doing but I understand where its heart is, and I can logically conclude that it is in the right place after all.
