Written By : VUNIWAQA BOLA . The will to defeat the NZ Maori at Churchill Park is the best way the Flying Fijians team can achieve their dream.
Former national rep, Inoke Male said whether or not the Maori side has the service of All Blacks reps, Fiji XV can still beat them.
“Having All Blacks or Super 14 players doesn’t matter.”
“Winning depends on how the 15 players in the field play.”
The former number eight said the win last week over Samoa served a good platform for Tabua’s army.
“If they better their set pieces and improve from where Jake White said needed improvement, they can win.”
The Raralevu, Tailevu native said it has taken Fiji Rugby a long time to witness such a good combination in the Fiji team.
“Last week’s game was one that Fiji has never seen in a long time.”
“The combination in the inside by Kameli (Ratuvou) and Sireli (Naqelevuki) really proved as an impact.”
Male said if Tabua’s guns, fire from the beginning and continue from where they left off last week they would prove to be the best Fiji team in the Pacific Nations Cup.
“The forwards will also need to lift their game.”
The former looseman, however is confident of the forward pack to rise to the test against the Maori side.
“We have the backs and Fijians are known to be good runners, if the forwards set a good platform, they will be on the roll.”
He added this was why having technical advisors from overseas has proved its worth.
“Rugby gets better every year and we need to move too.”
