Written By : Lawrence Narayan Suva. Utiko Nabunobuno (FS 10/6) wears two hats – as a political pundit and a religious Christian which is unscriptural. He keeps the Sabbath but does he keep all other Commandments of God as mentioned in Luke 10:27: “Love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour (everyone) as thyself.” Just as God tested the Israelites many times, He also tested the faith of Christians in Fiji after 130 years of preaching. The result? A total failure to honour God as their actions were revealed to millions worldwide in 1987 and 2000. In both political events, the biggest Christian church denomination marched through Suva against their fellowmen (neighbours), saw the robbing and killing of innocent people and forcing them to go a foreign country most of them had never seen.
God moved miraculously in his plan and purpose and many Indo-Fijians accepted Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. They repented and forgave their oppressors but the ugly picture remains in history for future generations.
Mr Nabunobuno and his colleagues now seem to be very religious on a certain day of the week. May I ask them why they broke the commandments of God in those dark evil days when we did not know Christ?
