Written By : CHRISTOPHER CHAND . National coach Ilivasi Tabua has stuck to his winning combination in a bid to upset the New Zealand Maoris after last weeks emphatic 34-17 win over Samoa. The only change has been to the reserves with Japan based Deryck Thomas and Saula Radidi providing cover for the run on side. Tabua said he hopes by sticking to the same lineup the national side will down the Maoris. He said three players had been cleared after they had injury concerns earlier in the week. “They have performed well. You don’t want to change a winning combination. We are confident they will go out there and do well,” Tabua said. “Everything is done. It’s just the run throughs and we are ready for the big day. We have done what we could. We have covered and its a great feeling amongst the players.
“Everybody will be given an opportunity to play. We will try and have some variations into what we want to do in regards to the reserves.”
The New Zealand Maoris plan to shut down the national sides fiery backline. They struggled in their opening match to win 20-9 over Tonga last week.
“They know that we have watched their game. For us it’s more so about what we can control, what we want to control,” Tabua said.
New Zealand has made 10 changes to the side with the hope of beating Fiji on their home soil.
Tailevu flyer Saula Radidi will make his debut if he is given a chance to run onto the field. Radidi is the only uncapped player in the 22 member side.
