Written By : AJAY NARAYAN HOD Science . An important component of science teaching and learning is the laboratory work where students design and carry out experiments. This exposes the students to the scientific method which promotes analytical and critical thinking. It is our hope that the exposure to this scientific method will allow students to deal with their daily problems effectively.
At Labasa College over 300 students are engaged in one or more science subjects. The teaching and learning of science is carried out through a variety of strategies including discovery and investigative learning. Presentations by students, peer teaching and research projects are also employed to make the learning of science fun and enjoyable. In addition to these the students also go for field trips. The students also take part in science competitions, both local and international.
The support from teachers and the dedication of the students, not surprisingly, often results in outstanding achievements. Labasa College has always been very well equipped to cater for the requirements of science teaching and learning. In this regard the efforts of the stake holders in equipping the students and providing the resources and facilities for efficient delivery of science content must be commended.
