Written By : Laisiasa Matanitobua Nadi . It would be interesting if the NCBBF list the names of villages in support of the ideas of reform under the People’s Charter. Also, what changes can the NCBBF bring about that would be steadfast, unchangeable and non-conforming.
The concept of consultation is largely misunderstood, despite oppositions made to the creation, development and the way things are taken for granted by the NCBBF. Consultation in the armbit of proper legal, social and cultural intergration is not a problem at all. However in the shades of wrong being right and vice versa, legal being partly legal and vice versa, as portrayed in the current interim government leaves much to be desired.
There is no opposition to the NCBBF, only some major questions that need to be answered. Is the NCBBF legal? What authority does it have to promulgate bills outside the democratically elected parliament mechanism? What happens if the newly elected government discards all the work done by NCBBF? Where does NCBBF get its funding from? Aren’t the taxpayers of Fiji copping too much already, aside from the inflation and economic recession currently experienced?
