There was a lot of mudslinging, foot in the mouth incidents and every now and then a government vehicle would be spotted transporting family members or parked outside a nightclub at 1am.
But life went on and it was good. Tourists were happy, anyone could travel to New Zealand or Australia.
Army personnel were confined to travelling to the Middle East on duty.
I used to love watching the parliamentary televised debates to learn some new words and also to catch up on what was going on with nation building.
Today, we are trying to eradicate corruption and in the process our roads are getting bad. Five-star tourists will not come because their travel insurance will not cover them. Many small businesses have had to close and skilled workers are leaving. I would love to know how much the people of Fiji have gained as opposed to the visible losses.
In other words has there been any profit (since the take over)?
