Telecom Fiji with its subsidiary companies have tremendously succeeded in terms of profit and dividends for their board members in the past 15 years.
I thank the interim government for taking into consideration the fact that monopolisation in the telecommunication industry is not beneficial for Fiji citizens.
The citizens of Fiji had no option but to rely on the inadequate or unsatisfactory services and excessive phone call charges.
The previous governments had benefited with high salaries and over-staffing. We see that there was a tendency for Telecom Fiji to become even more powerful than the regulatory authority that is the government of the day.
On the other hand, the people of Fiji had less or no choice but move on with pain and heartaches.
Now all Fiji citizens are looking forward to the fruits of competition in terms of better service and lower costs.
It’s time for a change and I am switching to Digicel which is more convinent to use, has wider choices and saves money during this difficult times.
I hope the interim government will also consider other monopolisation industries in Fiji to be deregulated for the benefit of citizens.
