That they would work in the best interest of the nation on an effort to “unite the major races”. What about the other races?
Why couldn’t they do it under the multi-party cabinet? The FLP, especially Mahendra Chaudhry, should have accepted the offer to join the multi-party government than joining the illegal government.
They had all the legal avenues to pursue their visions in the democratic setup.
They could even move a vote-of-no confidence against Laisenia Qarase or vote against the budget and force a snap by-election. Instead they chose the other way, and the people pay dearly.
How can Mrs Koroi guarantee that this coup will “help eradicate the coup culture”. It is like healing a burned skin with hot water.
Should we believe that the FLP’s marriage to the IG was a decision not made collectively by party members and their supporters, but by the selected few of Koroi, Bune and Chaudhry?
Or, is it just a case of sour grapes for not being appointed deputy PM and Finance Minister in the 2006 multi-party government?
