Lal does not intend to only participate but fight for top honors. The national rep takes part in the 2009 World Indoor Championships which would be held from March 27- 2 April in Warilla, Australia.
He said help would guide the way for him to get better result at international meets.
“I have made it clear to my executives (Fiji Men’s Bowling Association) that I need funds to prepare myself well. I do not just want to go and compete but win.
“Probably go a week earlier to prepare in Australia. I did not have the support last year. How can I go and play against the big guys with just one day preparation at the venue. Here I do not have the right facilities (indoor facility),” Lal said.
He said the FMBA would try their best to help. In the meantime Lal said he wants to put his mind on the task ahead.
“The executives are doing their level best to assist me. We have also spoken to some people. All we hope that someone comes out to support. Definitely it would make a difference to the result. I want to concentrate and I have been preparing myself well and going to the gym three days a week,” the top local bowler said.
At the 2008 indoor championships, Lal overall finished on 11th place only to miss a quarter-final spot.
Lal also said that he wants a berth in the national team for the 2009 Mini South Pacific Games in Cook Islands.
The trials for the national side would be on Jan 10 in Nadi and later in Suva on January 24.
