Written By : Mohammed Ramzan Nakasi . It really disturbs me to see obscene advertisements placed on billboards on roadsides, particularly girls in bikini.
The billboards situated just past the Nausori Bridge and at the Samabula junction of Princess Road and Reservoir Road in my opinion are very distracting.
It can be described as a road hazard. It is likely to cause accidents on the road. Drivers are bound to get distracted and they would want to see what’s behind the scene.
It’s not only distracting to the eyes but is also a disturbance to the society as a whole. They clearly show that our cultural and moral values are eroding. We have become so accustomed to western influence that we tend to accept modern culture as the norms of our society.
Where has our cultural values gone to?
We used to expect our females to dress in decent and morally accepted clothes but gone are those days. No one seems to notice that our culture is eroding rapidly with us doing nothing at all. Gone are those days when tourists came to Fiji to see our cultural heritage and values.
