He said to date there were 16 people in custody with most arrests associated with drunken driving and a few cases of minor assault.
Mr Bautolu said so far there were only two major crime cases registered in the division, one being the murder of a taxi driver in Sigatoka and a missing person from Vuda.
The number of people arrested in the Northern and Central Divisions for various offences during Christmas and New Year are still being collated and the force would release the figures today said spokeswoman Ema Mua.
Ms Mua said the police in the above divisions were getting all necessary information together and once done would forward them to the police command centre for release.
She said they would be a in a position to get a confirmed and updated figure today after liaising with the relevant people.
“We can release the updated figures tomorrow and the person who handles this should be able to provide us with that information,” said Ms Mua.
Media officer in the North Atunaisa Sokomuri said he did not have the confirmed figures on hand as the respective divisions were still gathering information and would send them to Labasa before being forwarded to Suva.
“The command centre in Suva should be able to give you the figures because all information goes to them,” said Mr Sokomuri.
