The Mini Games which would be held at the Cook Islands would see the sport of Rugby League in the sevens format.
Cadrakilagi said he has set out a selection criteria of what he would want to see from his players in their upcoming 7s competition.
“I have prepared what I would want selectors to look for when they select players for the Mini Games.” “Because the format would be 7s I will mainly look at players with speed.”
Cadrakilagi said speed and defence would be used by his team as the main weapon especially when they would want to defend their gold medal won from the 2007 Pacific Games.
He added they would select their 40- member elite squad on January 24 when they have a 7s tournament at the Suva Grammar School ground.
“Work would begin after the team is selected.”
Just like their World Cup campaign, Cadrakilagi’s coached side would go through fitness tests to keep the coach in the light of the player’s performance before he selects his final team.
Eastern Conference development officer and the winning Police World Cup coach, Sale Tubuna would monitor the Eastern based players’ performance with Cadrakilagi looking after the West.
Cadrakilagi said all the players would be given a fair chance in selection and no one would receive first priority.
Cadrakilagi reminded players that they would need to perform to get the nod into the elite squad and if that improves they would finally make it to the Mini games team but he wants only the best.
