“The best team is the one that plays many games together because it is where they know each other well, the strength and weaknesses of the each player.”
“To best arm our team for the 7s RWC, the FRU must negotiate with the overseas clubs in releasing our boys for national duties before it’s too late.”
The former national flanker said it’s better to bring the overseas based players early so that the coach could also work on their fitness level.
“A classic example is what happened to William Ryder last year. He arrived two weeks before the Hong Kong 7s tournament and it was late to trim him down which also affected his performance in Hong Kong.”
“We must keep in mind that these overseas based players are fulltime 15s players and it will take time for them to adapt from 15s to 7s.”
“So the best solution is for the FRU to start negotiating on their releases now to avoid disappointments.
“FRU must bring in Ryder now.”
The Nameka native has also called on the players selected to play for Fiji to give their utmost best on the field.
“Most players are playing just for the sake of playing and they seem to give half hearted effort in their games.”
“The players must feel for their families, feel for the fans and most importantly feel for Fiji and play their hearts out.”
“We are not going into the rugby field to make up the numbers, we are there for a purpose and we should make every opportunity counts.”
