Language is taught, not for preparing students to pass exams, but to act as a reflection to the changing modernistic era.
Nowadays, education is seen beyond academic achievement or education.
Educationists are faced with challenges to provide meaningful education, thus one need common values based on universalism for our multiracial co-existence and the way to promote curriculum with humanistic consideration is through language.
Teachers in language departments do their humble bits to improve the standard of both spoken and written communication.
A total of the four industrious, assiduous and energetic teachers provide instruction in one or more of the three languages, English, Hindi and Fijian at Waiqele Secondary School.
These teachers are geared to tackle challenges without letting compliancy creep in, “To become empowered learners.” The aim is not only achieving excellence, but also providing the best learning platform which should instill confidence in students and help them to develop.
The department is proud to have achieved a lot during the course of the year, both in extra curricular and academic fronts.
Participation in all competitions and activities was done with express philosophy of not only winning, but feeling happy that we have participated sincerely and strongly.
This year many of our students won various prizes in the Hindi Day celebration organised by Hindi Teachers Association.
The language department hosted various student-centered activities in conjunction with the library week celebration this year. To monitor student progress, teachers of the department, had been putting in their sterling effort in upgrading language skills in the school through various short tests, assignments and carrying out remedial work on student errors.
To our students, we would like you to remember that reading maketh a full man, conference a ready man and writing an exact man.
As the pages of the book are turned, and ones mind is broadened.
