Breaking into new grounds
Written By : Mr RUP NARAYAN Vice- Principal and Head of Pemac Department. The department deals with the teaching and learning of Physical Education, Music and Art and Craft.
The departments teaching of Physical Education lesson is shared by nine staff members.
The Music and Art and Craft lesson is taught only by the most experienced and qualified member of the department, Mr Rup Narayan who is currently the Vice Principal.
For the visitors to the school and even the new students who join the school they marvel and admire the way students learn especially with the use of recorders.
Mr Narayan with his 37 years of experience in teaching PEMAC, has been a great asset and help in the smooth running of the department.
In sports, four represented the school in the Coca- Cola Games, this year.
Even though, we did not get any gold but the department is satisfied that the students came back with life long experiences since some of them it was their first trip to Viti Levu.
The school also participated in the Labasa secondary school competition in the Under-15 and Under-7 grade but we lose out in the elimination.
The school has one of its soccer grounds which was why we hosted the Labasa secondary school soccer competition for the Under-19 grade.
In, 2010, the school is planning to participate in rugby and netball competition with other secondary school in Labasa.

Today it has become a great challenge for mathematics teachers to take maths to relate it t real life situations.
The shift in mathematics education is one of application and problem solving into the world of work.
This poses a great challenge to the teachers as far as mathematics teaching is concerned.
