Open Day celebration 2009
Written By : SUN FIJI NEWSROOM. This year Nausori High School ventured into a new and creative programme for the students and the wider community of Vuci area.
The school organized a day whereby teachers and students worked together to display a wide range of activities.
On June 26, 2009, the school organized a fun-filled, creative and educational open day for its students.
Organisatsions such as Fiji Institute of Technology, Training Productivity Authority of Fiji, Capital Markets Development Authority, Australia and New Zealand Bank, Fiji National Providnt Fund, Consumer Council of Fiji and National Fire Authority were part of the function. They had put up displays and presentations informing students on the subject choices. It was a unique event in the history of the school.
EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION
The school ventured into a new programme initiated by TPAF for schools improvement in the teaching and learning process. The NHS administration has taken on board new ideas by TPAF to implement in the school system. The two opportunities for improvement (OFI) initiated in the school system are the homework policy and the absenteeism rate.
A homework centre has been introduced in school from 12.10pm to 12.50pm whereby students are assisted by teachers with their incomplete homework.
As part of the challenge to minimize the absenteeism rate students are rewarded with certificates on 100% monthly attendance. The School principal Mrs. Premila Kumar said that this initiative by the school has brought about positive changes in the students so far.
ESSAY COMPETITION
The school took part in an essay competition organized by the New Zealand High Commission. Shivneel Kumar of Form 501 took part in the competition and scooped Certificate of Excellence and $300 cash prize. The essay was marked in Auckland New Zealand and there was an award function in which the school participated.
This has been a great achievement for Nausori High School which has become a milestone in the history of Nausori High. Shivneel gives thanks to the School Principal Mrs. Premila Kumar and the HOD Languages Mr. Manhar P. Kumar for the achievement.
