The Labasa Sangam Primary School in Labasa recorded a 100per cent pass in the 2009 Fiji Eighth Year Examination.
The school yesterday confirmed that 69 students sat for the exam and they all passed with flying colours. The students have now booked a place at the Labasa Sangam College, to further their studies next year.
Head teacher Kamal Deo said the school was able to achieve good results through the teachers’ commitment coupled with the students’ willingness to work hard.
“The class eight students underwent frequent short tests and studied in groups to gain the maximum knowledge in order to get a 100per cent pass rate,” Mr Deo said.
The two form teachers, Mrs Shobhna Pillay and Mrs Savitri Sami worked hard to ensure that they are best prepared for the exams.
“I would like to thank the efforts and commitments of my teachers in empowering the students to achieve their dreams.”
Mr Deo added that this year’s form two students have shown great interest towards their education even after their Fiji Eighth Year Examination.
“Teachers continued teaching their class eight students to avoid absenteeism and I am happy to note that that we have not being faced with any disciplinary issues,” said Mr Deo.
Many of these class eight students have chosen to complete their secondary education at Sangam College for various reasons.
Class Eight Eka Diweti, said Sangam College is a well known school and that is why she wants to continue with her studies there.
“My aim was to get a very good mark that would enable me to get an admission to Sangam College and I have done it,” said a happy Krishaal Chand.
He added that Sangam College comprises of many students and the level of academic and sporting competition is very high.
Sangam College is the defending Fiji Under-17 soccer champion.
Only four days are left for these class eight students to sit for their annual exam.
Teachers are frequently giving short tests to enable the students to score good annual marks as this is one of the deciding factors for admission for form three, next year.
