National Fire Authority said the fire happened about 2am.
The house, made of corrugated iron and timber, belonged to Jone Tawake.
No one was at home when the fire started.
Divisional Fire Officer Western, Isoa Makutu said they were working with Police in trying to ascertain the cause of the fire.
Mr Makutu said people should notify a nearby police station if they are leaving their homes to visit relatives on New Year’s Day or call the fire brigade on 911 in the event of a fire.
NFA is adamant of minimising the impact of fire in the country if people call the fire brigade or the emergency line, 911 early to enable the brigade’s early arrival at the scene.
NFA said fire safety was everyone’s responsibility and properties could be saved from going up in flames by taking extra precautions with flammable materials.
