image Written By : CHRISTOPHER CHAND . Unbeaten Chinese international Qiang Wang will face Cristina Visico in the final of the Fiji Tennis Invitation Classic at the Denarau Golf and Racquet Club today.
Wang remains undefeated after three rounds heading into the finale against Visico in what is billed to be a great climax to the four day championship.
The two players meet for the first time in the tournament. Wang grabbed her third win in a row beating Dominika Dieskova 6-4, 6-2 yesterday.
She said she wants to engrave her name on the inaugural title.
“I have won three matches already and I hope to go all the way by winning the final,” said Wang.
The 18-year-old rising star has battled a niggling injury to come out on top after the round robin matches. Cristina Visico who is representing Philippines edged Shikha Uberoi on a count back decision to qualify for the final.
Visico beat Neha Uberoi 7-5, 6-3 in the deciding match to sneak through.
India’s Shikha Uberoi picked up her second win after overcoming Brittany Teei 6-3, 6-3 in the opening match but failed to advance into the finals.
Uberoi who also had two wins in the bag will meet Dominika Dieskova in the third and fourth place play-off.
On the count back decision Visico had won five sets and lost two while on the other hand Uberoi had won five sets and lost three.
Uberoi will also face Dieskova for the first time in the tournament for the third place.
The winner will get $4,000 and a Chris Aire watch valued at $8,000.
The runner-up will receive $3, 000 and a pearl valued at $5000 from J Hunter Pearls Fiji while the third place getter will receive $1000.
Draws: 12.30pm: 3rd – 4th playoff, 3pm: FINAL
