Friday (Fiji time) marked the day that the doors officially opened at Apia’s newest and finest hotel.
It is the latest addition to the growing international hotel portfolio of the Reddy family’s Tanoa Hotel Group.
The company took over the rundown former Kitano Tusitala on the waterfront road in downtown Apia last year.
Tanoa Hotels chairman and founder Yanktesh Permal “YP” Reddy immediately ordered the hotel closed and rebuilt to its position as Apia’s most popular downtown hotel. This is for both business and holiday visitors.
The revamp includes:
l 95 beautifully restored rooms, featuring all you would expect of what is being billed as a modern 4.5 star hotel
l12 acres of fully landscaped grounds, situated in the heart of Apia
l Swimming pool and Children’s Pool
lChoice of Food and Beverage outlets – Tamarind Restaurant, Deck Restaurant. Deck Bar, Ofisa Bar … and more to come.
lWireless Internet in public areas
lHigh-speed Internet in rooms
lElectronic key card access and in-room safes
“I returned from Apia only a few days ago and I can tell you the hotel is looking fantastic,” said Richard Crouch, the Tanoa Hotels director of sales.
Tanoa Hotels chief executive Gordon Wilson said: “The only resemblance from the old Kitano and the new Tanoa Tusitala can be quite simply put as … they both have the same number of rooms and they are both in the same location.
“Every other aspect is completely different and will be seen by most to be a completely new product.”
Former Tanoa International Hotel, Nadi Airport, manager Jong Cataylo is now general manager. Senior Tanoa staff from Fiji are in Apia to help with training and launching.

GETTING THERE: Air Pacific is the only airline operating Nadi-Apia-Nadi. It is also the only airline operating between Apia and Honolulu
