Celebrating Fiji’s freedom
Written By : General Editor. Amidst the anticipating crowd
The emancipated crowd
The anticipating, emancipated crowd
She watched, solemnly, expectantly
The drums rolled, melancholy
The colors came down slowly, ever slowly
On the contours of her face
Her tired, weary face
Immortalized
A teardrop that has never been dried
Of yesterday and tomorrow
Is there a distance
Impressed on her distant gaze
The weight of sorrow
Is there a scale?
Sagged heavily on her weathered face
She watched, solemnly, expectantly
On the contours of her face
Her tired, weary face
Immortalized
A teardrop that has never been dried
Four seasonal stormy decades
Rhetoric, seasonal coup decades have spanned
Whence this tear drop fell from eyes
That had seen four years shy
Of the century, Red, White and Blue, Navy
Still she watched, solemnly, expectantly
On the contours of her face
Her tried, weary face
Immortalized
A teardrop that has never been dried
