Fashion judge calls for improvement
Written By : KELERA SERELINI. Standard of garment construction during the MHCC Fiji Fashion Week 2101 needs to improve, says judge Savitri Rae.
Mrs Rae was one of the judges at the show last weekend.
Some of the judging criteria were designs that were appropriate for the range, degree of difficulties and construction of garment, appeal and how the garment looked on the catwalk.
“There were not enough designs for the judging to be competitive,” she said.
“Designers who were not happy about the judgment should know that it was not only about how it appeared on the catwalk but the whole finishing of the garment.”
Mrs Rae said garments for fashion shows need to be on time.
“More than 40 per cent of the garment came in during the night of the show and this made judgment very difficult.”
She said in order for the designers to actually make it into the fashion industry, construction of the garments needs to improve and that they need to pick the right fabric for the style.
