Written By : CHRISTOPHER CHAND. Naisoso Island will in the next 10 days lodge the proposed four and five star hotel resort applications to the Nadi Rural Authority and the Department of Town and Country Planning.
Naisoso Island managing director Bob Lowres said the conceptual plans were to be provided to Nadi Rural Authority and the Department of Town and Country Planning for discussion and consultation with interested parties.
He noted that Naisoso Island already has a Tourism Master Plan approval for the hotels.
Mr Lowres said “by lodging the conceptual drawings that could be used as a discussion document for an exchange of ideas and views with adjoining parties AFL and CAAFI for example.”
Mr Lowres acknowledged that Naisoso Island and AFL were working towards a common goal of bringing more tourists to Fiji and making it an enjoyable experience for them.
“We wish to work in a spirit of co-operation and engagement to achieve the best outcomes,” Mr Lowres stated.
Naisoso Island will also hold a press conference on Wednesday November 24 to announce the operator of their new 178 serviced apartment resort to commence construction next year.
The managing director of the renowned international brand will be on hand when the announcement takes place on Naisoso Island.
Mr Lowres said already two of the world’s largest internationally acclaimed hotel brands have expressed interest in writing to run the four and five star hotel resorts on Naisoso Island.
Mr Lowres said that the lack of new hotels being built around the world presently and the demand for quality hotel accommodation in Fiji assured Naisoso of the right hotel operators as they move forward.
Mr Lowres said that their plans were to commence either the four or five star hotel between late 2012 and early 2013 after the financial commitment to the apartment resort had been minimised.
