WWE legends have their say
Written By : JAMES COYLE Sky Sports. The past Monday Night, WWE’s flagship show Monday Night RAW went ‘old school’ and reverted back to its 1993 roots.
The three-hour special from Hershey, Pennsylvania featured WWE Legends including Dusty Rhodes, Roddy Piper, Sgt. Slaughter, The Iron Sheik and WWE Hall of Fame commentator Jim Ross.
A fantastic retro edition of RAW culminated in “Rowdy” Roddy Piper hosting John Cena and WWE Champion Randy Orton on his talk show, “Piper’s Pit”
First out was Cena, who assured Piper that, as special guest referee this Sunday, he would call the WWE Title Match at Survivor Series right down the middle. Upon hearing Cena’s proclamation, Wade Barrett intruded to remind his reluctant member that he will be fired from WWE if the Englishman loses.
Regardless of the outcome, Cena, who was forced to wear the “N”-labelled T-shirt of his associates, told his overlord that he still plans on pummelling him when the match comes to an end this Sunday Night.
The other Superstar in the volatile equation, Randy Orton, then had his say on the matter. The Viper mentioned to Cena that he had wanted to punt him in the skull to eliminate him from referee duties this Sunday. Instead, WWE’s Apex Predator thought it best to attack Barrett.
Punished
But just as Orton prepared to punt Barrett’s skull, a reluctant Cena stopped him and was punished with an RKO. Seizing the moment, Barrett once again engaged Orton in battle, only to be felled once more.
The brief exchange was just enough to enable a weary Cena – now the focus of the champion’s punt – to recover and evade The Viper’s charging boot.
Cena recovered to hit Orton with an Attitude Adjustment, at which point the Englishman ordered his disciple to raise his hand in victory. A request which Cena didn’t take very kindly to as he went on to lay out Barrett with an Attitude Adjustment of his own.
Will Cena help Barrett win his first WWE Title? Or will a three-count for Orton signal the end of Cena’s WWE career?
