Written By : NASIK SWAMI. The three-week attachment of two Japanese firefighters with the National Fire Authority of Fiji has enhanced the capabilities of local firefighters tremendously, says NFA Chief Executive Officer Jone Koroi.
During their three-week stint firefighters Teppei Hayakawa and Tadaaki Kiya trained local firefighters on the use of First Aid and Ambulance service.
Last week the Japanese experts were farewelled at a special function after conducting training in the West, North and in the Central Division.
At the function Mr Koroi described the assistance from the two Japanese firefighters as worthy.
“The two senior officers from Matsusaka Fire Department have enhanced the operation capabilities of firefighters in First Aid and Ambulance service.” he said.
Mr Koroi said the two firefighters conducted training for NFA officers and corporate staff in the Central, Western and Northern divisions.
“This was the first time for an ambulance service specialist to provide training for our firefighters on basic procedures of how to provide Ambulance service care to victims of road accidents and emergency situations.” he said.
Mr Koroi added that similar trainings will be conducted next year at a more advanced level.
