CWM outpatients department closes
Written By : SOURCE: MINISTRY OF INFORMATION. The General Outpatients Department (GOPD) at the CWM Hospital has being closed.
CWM Hospital has begun operating the Accident Emergency Service from Tuesday, March 1.
Health Ministry’s spokesman Peni Namotu said the move was in line with the decentralisation of outpatient services in the Central Division.
“The closure of CWM Hospital’s GOPD is part of Health’s decentralisation plan,” he said.
“People in the Central Division now have to go to their nearest health centres for medical treatment.”
With the closure of GOPD, health centres in the Central Division have extended their opening hours from 6:30am to 10pm in the weekdays to cater for patients.
“All six health centers around the Suva area have extended their weekdays opening hours from 6:30am to 10pm to accommodate patients,” he said
Meanwhile, these health centres will be opened from 8am to 4pm in the weekends and public holidays
