Vodafone Hibiscus Festival will host housing expo
Written By : Source: MINISTRY OF INFORMATION. The Fijian Government’s inaugural National Housing Expo will be staged during the annual Vodafone Hibiscus Festival this year.
A national expo on housing is an activity required under the National Housing Policy that was launched in March 30.
Director Housing and Squatter Settlement, Kolinio Bola said the expo would help members of the public with information on the various forms of affordable and decent housing that could be constructed.
“One of the activities outlined under the National Housing Policy was the promotion of affordable and decent housing and we will be mainstreaming the housing exhibition through the Hibiscus event,” Bola said.
The provision of decent and affordable housing is also a key output of the ministry.
The national expo will showcase four categories of housing:
n display of affordable home plans
n display of housing models
n display of sale of price control on building materials (with the recent reduction in building materials)
n display of alternative building materials such as solar panels and water tanks
Stakeholders met at the ministry of Local Government, Urban Development, Housing and Environment following their meeting with the festival’s organising committee.
